You can never go wrong with a Dior. They are exquisitely made and their simplicity hides masterful technique and construction. This little blue number is no exception and hides some wonderful subtle details that tell of the high quality of the dress. It buttons down the front to just under the waist with thick buttons the same shade as the light wool fabric. These buttons are picked up as decoration on each sleeve. Its a nod to the quality done in those days that even though the sleeve buttons are only decorative, the buttonholes themselves are still all properly finished. I love the way the skirt is set with its two flat pleats on either side of the front closure. The neck is simple and the skirt has only the slightest touch of fullness. The label marks it as made for export to the Japanese market at the time, a bit of a rarity to find! Excellent condition
Fully lined in a matching deep blue, fine grade silk. It closes with the buttons at the front, with hidden fabric covered snaps. Top stitched seams and hand finished. All buttons holes are properly finished. Very well made. Note that it was almost too small on my mannequin - when on a smaller girl the front closure lines up exactly of course.
